Golf Courses
Welcome to Citrus County golf lovers. Providing you with over 20 stunning golf courses, Citrus County is one of the top golfing "hot spots” in Florida. In fact, the area around Citrus County Florida contains four of the top 100 golf courses in the nation according to Golf Digest magazine.

The first two courses on the list are both located at World Woods near the southern area of Citrus County. World Woods provides you with two of the most challenging 18-hole golf courses in the country.

This one of a kind complex also offers a world class practice facility that was nominated by Sports Illustrated magazine as “the best range in the world.

Third and equally impressive is Southern Woods Golf and Country Club nominated by Golf Digest magazine at the Best New Private Course in 1993. And finally we find ourselves in the world of Black Diamond Ranch. Offering 45 of the most amazing and challenging holes of golf you will ever experience.

These Tom Fazio designed courses are carved into what once was a limestone quarry providing some of the most breathtaking views and stunning landscaping a golfer could ever hope for. With this, Black Diamond has emerged as one of the top-ranked courses in the world.

Some of the other more popular courses in the area are the Dunes Golf Club at Seville, Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club, Skyview at Terra Vista, and El Diablo in Citrus Springs.

The Dunes course weaves through the naturally beautiful, densely wooded terrain. This course challenges the accuracy and consistency of the golfer. With numerous over sized bunkers, your shot better be right on. Traveling a little bit further north, Sugarmill Woods offers three courses.

The first is the Cypress Course, which offers narrow fairways and is heavily bunkered. Second is the Oaks Course. And for those golfer’s who fret water, no fear here, this course is water free and is more open. Finally, is the Pine Course. The longest of the three courses in Sugarmill Woods.

Next along the way is Skyview at Terra Vista. Just one of the three courses in the Villages of Citrus Hills. This beautiful, mountainous terrain is the second highest elevation in Central Florida offering spectacular vistas like no other.

Continuing on toward Citrus Springs, you’ll find yourself being lured into the pits of El Diablo. Forcing you to bring your best game, this challenging course snakes through majestic oaks, forests thick with pines and rolling hills.

And don't forget the grand old southern bell of Crystal River, the Plantation Inn and Golf Resort. This 232 acre resort has all the charm of a southern plantation because it is one!

The course features water on 21 of the 27 holes, sloped greens and a variety of challenging fairways lined with native live oak trees and emerald pines.

You can combine the three nines to suit your game. Choose from the short course “the Lagoons” or the championship layout.

So, if teeing off on one of the nations top courses sounds like a challenge to you or if you think you can handle the pits of El Diablo, then you have come to the right place.

Citrus County's golfing experience is one of a kind and a favorite among some of the nation's top players.
